REST & RISE: A Reset Retreat for Black LGBTQ+ Changemakers in Costa Rica

Great day, good people of Oz!

I’m Eric L Cox—a national board-certified health and wellness coach (NBC-HWC), seasoned leadership coach and trainer, and the creator of SIGN UP! (Set Intentional Goals Now to Unlock your Potential!).

I’m also the current president of the board of a breakthrough 501(c)(3) nonprofit, MashUp!– serving black LGBTQ+ communities in Nashville, TN.

I know firsthand what it means to lead from both vision and vulnerability.

I, too, have spent years in rooms where I was the “only one”—navigating relentless expectations, holding space for others, and quietly searching for spaces where I didn’t have to explain, code-switch, or dim my light.

That’s why I’ve devoted my adult life to co-curating opportunities for us—Black LGBTQ+—to step out of survival mode and truly thrive in community. 

My passion is building sanctuaries of restoration where we can shed the armor of everyday advocacy, reconnect to our joy, and gather strength from those who get it—because they live it.

Through group coaching, wellness journeys, and intentional travel, I’ve witnessed the alchemy that happens when we slow down together, reflect, and rise empowered, realigned, and more connected to our purpose.
